Sung Il Hwan father of Jinwoo is a powerful character in Solo Leveling. He is a family person who deeply loves his family. He is an S-rank hunter and the second strongest hunter after Jinwoo. He easily defeated Hwang Dongsoo, who is also an S-rank hunter. He is one of the first S-rank hunter in South Korea.
History
At his young age, he worked as a firefighter. At that time, he fell in love with a girl. Later, he married her and became the father of two children, Sung Jinwoo and Sung Jinah. When monsters attacked Earth 10 years before the present time, he joined the Hunter Association and became a hunter.
During one of his missions, he was trapped in a dungeon. In that dungeon, he was near death from starvation. In this condition, he was found by a ruler who gave him his powers in exchange for a task: to kill the Shadow Monarch, who was soon to be born.

As the vessel of a Ruler, was among the most formidable hunters globally, potentially ranking as the second strongest after Jinwoo. Moreover, his kicks were so powerful that he could launch Rakan through multiple buildings and pierce right through Rakan’s upper jaw. A single kick to the chin was enough to incapacitate Sillad for a significant period.
In terms of speed, Il-Hwan was nothing short of extraordinary. His agility allowed him to simultaneously evade and counter the attacks of both Frost Monarc and Rakan. He could even deflect Frost Monarch relentless barrage of icicles using his daggers with remarkable ease.
