Stark and Fern are two important characters in the series. Both are human, but Fern is a mage while Stark is a warrior. When Fern first met Stark, she thought he was somewhat timid. However, after Stark helps defeat the Solar Dragon and joins the group, their relationship slowly improves. Still, they sometimes argue over small things.
Are They in Love?
At first, they argue a lot, with Fern not trusting Stark and teasing him for being timid. Stark, on the other hand, thinks Fern is too hard on him and doesn’t listen to what he has to say. With Sein’s help as a mediator, they both try to talk more and understand each other. As they travel together, they become closer friends. Even though Fern still gets mad at Stark sometimes, she also shows she cares about him, like when she scolded him for staying up late drinking juice while she was away.
Stark tries hard to make Fern happy, like spending hours picking out a birthday gift she’d like, or asking Frieren for advice on what Fern might enjoy on a date. When Fern gets upset with Frieren, she turns to Stark. Stark says he decided to join Frieren’s group mainly because of Fern’s encouragement in Riegel Canyon. As time passes, they start to have feelings for each other and even go on a date in the Fortified City of Heiß.
